Review of the Carvin CT6M

January 10th, 2010

Carvin has a well-earned status for making superior custom instruments at a fair price. The CT6M helps Carvin continue their reputation for unmatched superiority. The instrument is perfect in nearly every facet. If you’re searching for a custom instrument that covers a wide variety of sonic territory, the Carvin CT6M will certainly make you happy. Let’s examine at the guitar’s details more carefully.

The instrument we reviewed featured a wonderful flamed maple carved top with a mahogany body. The CT6M came with a set-in neck with 22 medium-jumbo frets, and we opted for the stainless steel fret upgrade. Sperzel locking tuners are standard, as are Carvin’s Classic C22 humbucking pickups. The playability of the CT6M was just incredible.

If you’re used to upgrading stock pickups, you might actually be content with the Carvin C22 pickups in their stock configuration. We received the CT6M with a top notch SKB-designed case that provides a really solid fit for the CT6M. Carvin definitely has a winner on their hands with their CT6M.

Sawyer Brown Mission Temple Fireworks Stand Country Music CD Review

January 5th, 2010

Richly talented Sawyer Brown have released their latest CD titled Mission Temple Fireworks Stand and Wow! It’s really a good one.

This one literally grabs your attention right from the start with Mission Temple Fireworks Stand and doesn’t let go until the very last note of the very last song Tryin’ To Find (A Way To Make It Last), which is another great track by the way.

Mission Temple Fireworks Stand is a nicely varied, mix of 12 tracks that are very well written and brilliantly performed songs by these clearly talented musicians. Most of the songs display a lot of the kind emotion that makes for a really great listen. Clearly drawing from what I can only imagine are their own personal experiences. At different points touching on the most real emotions of love, heartbreak, pain, failed relationships and unattainable romance. They’re all here.

Overall Mission Temple Fireworks Stand is excellent from beginning to end. One of those CDs that after a few listens the songs are just etched into your memory. A must have for the Country fan. Really spectacular from beginning to end.

While this entire album is really very good some of my favorites are track 6 – Keep Your Hands To Yourself, gt2, and track 12 – Tryin’ To Find (A Way To Make It Last)

My Bonus Pick, and the one that got Sore [. . . as in "Stuck On REpeat"] is track 1 – Mission Temple Fireworks Stand. Great track!

Toni Braxton More Than a Woman Pop Music CD Review

January 5th, 2010

More Than A Woman is the latest release from Pop Superstar Toni Braxton, and is another great one from this talented musician.

Unfortunately, it’s not everyday that I get a CD from an artist that I can just pop in and comfortably listen to from beginning to end. There is usually a song or two that I just can’t force myself to get through. Not at all the case with More Than A Woman. Every track is enjoyable and was pretty easy for me to listen to from start to finish.

These days it’s a very rare CD on which every single song is good or better than the one before it. This CD is certainly one of those rare CDs.

Overall More Than A Woman is a solid release. Quite possibly Toni Braxton’s best to date. Really spectacular from beginning to end. If you’re even mildly into Pop music you’ll enjoy this album.

While this entire album is outstanding the truly standout tunes are track 1 – Let Me Show You The Way, track 8 – Do You Remember When, and track 12 – Always.

My Bonus Pick, and the one that got Sore [. . . as in "Stuck On REpeat"] is track 3 – A Better Man. Great track!
